Geoffrey c. Packard Watertown, criminal defense attorney and judge Thursday he died at his home.
He was 62.
Born in Boston, he recently lived in Watertown.
As a member of Phi Beta Kappa honors Mr. Packard acquired degree cum laude graduated from history at Princeton University in 1970. He graduated from Harvard Law School.
He began his career in Massachusetts Defense Committee in 1973. He was later nominated advanced exam, the Massachusetts Committee for public counsel services, and 2002 from 1984, the Organization's Cambridge Office served. It was among his clients was convicted of child abuse Pastor John c. Geoghan.
In 2003, Packard said Massachusetts State district judge has been appointed.
He served as President of the Massachusetts Association of criminal defense in 2002, the Association, Joseph j. Ballerio prize was awarded. He had received in 1996, Edward J. and Dagan Award for outstanding service. In 2009 he was awarded judicial Excellence Award from Massachusetts judges Conference.
Served as the 2002 and 2003, as part of the judicial exchange in the Tomsk Region Court of Massachusetts, and Siberia, to conduct education sessions of the legal system of the United States delegation Packard said.
An ardent Red Sox [team stats] fan, he enjoyed ????_??? and his son and baseball coach. He enjoyed time with his family in Menemsha and Cape Cod. He was a lover of history, fiction and poetry.
Mr. Packard was an avid sailor, but the Charter yacht cruise part main coast each year.
Packard said his wife, Patricia Barney "survived the Uri Geller is; Watertown's two sons, Nick's Brooklyn, New York, Sam; brother of Chris Newton; is the extended family.
